Kevin Brown – Founder
Kevin Brown is the founder of Affording America and the architect behind the American Affordability Act, a transformative economic plan aimed at tackling the cost-of-living crisis facing millions of Americans. Like many working Americans and families, Kevin and his wife, Andrea, grapple with the everyday financial burdens that define modern American life—housing that’s too expensive, health care costs that spiral out of control, grocery prices that are too high, and an economy that favors the wealthy over working people. Rather than accepting these challenges as inevitable, Kevin built an organization dedicated to changing the system.
With a career spanning public policy, government reform, and economic justice, Kevin has spent years developing policies that promote fairness, stability, and opportunity. Prior to founding Affording America, he served as Executive Director of the Congressional Commission on the State of U.S. Olympics and Paralympics, where he led a national review of sports governance and athlete protections. He was also a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Defense, overseeing initiatives that identified $100 billion in savings to reinvest in national priorities. At the U.S. Department of State, he helped modernize the government’s global engagement strategy, and at the Department of Transportation, he was a key player in national infrastructure policy.
Kevin's background includes leadership roles in progressive politics, national security, and public sector efficiency, bringing a unique perspective on how government can work better for the people it serves. Kevin holds a Master’s Degree in Global Policy from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
His vision for the American Affordability Act is clear: a fair tax system that rewards work, not just wealth; guaranteed health care that doesn’t bankrupt families; and policies that make housing, education, and essential services affordable for every American.
